Rolex 1st Series Big Crown Submariner

Circa 1953

Purchased in the year 2003 from Bjsonline.

Watch was from the original owners estate in Texas, and like New Old Stock infact so nice that I could not sleep and had to call Kamal in the middle of the night to confirm if it was genuine or made in China.

I took it to my Rolex Tech the next mgn and had the watch striped down, and it was best he had ever seen.

Before I met Kamal, my collection was a mess, not sure what was correct so I decided to sell all and start again. Now I have the makings of a nice collection.

I have a Rolex Military Submariner ref 5513, Rolex Paul Newman Daytona ref 6263, Rolex First Submariner ref 6200, Rolex Double Red Seadweller, and a Rolex Orange Hand Explorer.

Update 2006:- The watch now resides with an important American Collector Kevin O and I hope he enjoys it as much as I have.

Rolex Submariner First Model Ref 6200 Circa 1955 MK 11 Dial

Simply one of the rarest Rolex Submariner ref 6200 to have surfaced. Large Brevet Crown, Gloss black 369 Explorer dial, Gilt printing with SUBMARINER in Silver Gilt.

These experimental models were first produced without SUBMARINER on the dial as Rolex were still debating the name for the model. Near the end of the production, very few models ref 6200 were produced with SUBMARINER on the dial. This is the first to have surfaced.

A collectors dream.

Rolex Submariner First Model Ref 6200 Circa 1955 MK1 Dial

Mint and sharpe case with all its angles in place, beautifully aged dial with matching hands, just heavenly.

Update: Now with a serious collector GT Virginia USA.

Rolex Submariner First Model Ref 6200 Circa 1955 MK1 Dial

The moment I saw it, I bought it. The dial is superbly mint with full radium on the markers. Definitely a keeper, and still an undervalued and underestimated watch.

Rolex Submariner First Model Ref 6200 Circa 1955 MK1 Dial

Purchased by Kamal in Geveva on my behalf, the case and dial are in excellent condition, not bad for a near 60 year old watch. And, what more, keeps perfect time.
